How is apple leather made?

Apple leather is made from the byproducts of apple juice and applesauce production. Instead of simply discarding the leftovers like peels, fibers, and stems, they are collected and processed into a fine powder. This powder is then combined with textile fibers such as cotton, polyester, and viscose, as well as a small amount of polyurethane. The result is a durable, robust material that comes remarkably close to real leather in appearance and feel – and all without any animal-derived components.

Where is Uppeal™ produced?

The apple leather is produced in Italy by the company Mabel Industries. In cooperation with the innovative FRUMAT factory, a high-quality material for the leather, shoe, and textile industries is created from apple waste. Since 2010, Mabel Industries has consistently focused on developing environmentally friendly alternatives from plant-based waste.

Why apple leather?
