Apple Leather by Uppeal™

Innovative. Refined. Responsible.

At HILOWIND, we carefully select materials that combine refined aesthetics with responsible innovation. That is why we work with Uppeal™, an advanced vegan alternative to leather made from apple waste.

How is apple leather made?

Apple leather is created from by-products of the apple juice and applesauce industry. Instead of discarding peels, fibers, and stems, these natural leftovers are collected, dried, and transformed into a fine powder.

This powder is blended with textile fibers such as cotton, polyester, and viscose, along with a small amount of polyurethane to ensure durability and performance.

The result is a resilient, high-quality material that closely resembles leather in both appearance and feel — entirely free from animal-derived components.

Where is Uppeal™ produced?

Uppeal™ is produced in Italy by Mabel Industries in collaboration with the innovative company FRUMAT.

Since 2010, Mabel Industries has focused on developing forward-thinking materials made from plant-based waste. Through this partnership, apple by-products are transformed into premium materials used in the leather, footwear, and textile industries.

Why apple leather?

• Efficient resource use

Apple by-products are repurposed instead of discarded.

• Circular approach

Reusing plant waste reduces environmental impact and prevents unnecessary waste.

• Partially bio-based composition

Plant residues partially replace petroleum-based components.

• Durable and low maintenance

Robust, resilient, and easy to care for — designed for longevity.

• A conscious style choice

A modern alternative for those who appreciate the look and feel of leather without using animal materials.

The HILOWIND Perspective

With Uppeal™, we embrace a new generation of responsible materials.

Our dog walking bags unite refined design, functionality, and conscious craftsmanship — created for modern dog owners who value style as much as responsibility.
